An Educational Symposium for the Future of Physician Assistants

New Wave Dermatology is a four-day medical education program designed as a comprehensive training program for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners working in the field of dermatology. We designed this four-day comprehensive symposium to increase the knowledge and skill level of practicing dermatology PAs and NPs by offering live didactic sessions, question and answer sessions, as well as hands-on workshops. This multi-sponsored, CME accredited program has recruited an outstanding faculty of dermatology thought leaders to conduct educational sessions on a wide array of common and uncommon dermatoses.

Filler Techniques Workshop
Objectives:
1.
Review facial anatomy essential for providing rejuvenation treatment
2. Understand product differences to provide the best rejuvenation results.
3.
Discuss appropriate pain management techniques when using fillers.
4. Gain an appreciation for facial contouring vs. wrinkle reduction.
5. Learn measures to be taken in emergency situations Discuss treatment and practice pearls of Botox and Dysport administration
Neuromodulators Techniques Workshop
Objective:
1.
Review the history of Botulinum Toxin
2.
Review the mechanism of action of Botox and Dysport cosmetic
3.
Review the anatomy and function of facial muscles
4.
Discuss storage, preparation and dilution of Botox and Dysport
5. Review evaluation of a cosmetic patient
6. Discuss treatment measures for complications
Surgery Techniques Workshop
Objectives:
1. Discussion, Observation and Practice of Shave, Punch and Saucerization Biopsies.
2. Discussion, demonstration and practice of an elliptical excision with repair.
3. Participants will review pearls of Hemostasis
4. Participants will review techniques of repairs
Dermatological Procedures: Peels, Lasers, Blocks, etc...
Objectives:
1. Participants will understand the different injectable anesthetics and dosing limits
2. Participants the effect of Dermabrasion on the skin in various disease processes and safety measures for various skin types
3. Participants will understand the difference between glycolic peels, salicylic acid peels and TCA peels and safety measures for various skin types
4. Participants will be familiar with different lasers and IPL devices, as well as, the advantages and disadvantages of each.
